Teenage heartthrob Omar Banos — aka Cuco — took everybody by storm with his squishy, synth-drenched love songs, romanticism articulated in two languages and punctuated by his occasional interludes on the horn. He’s gone from playing backyard parties to festivals in under two years (and has two sold-out headlining dates at the Glass House this weekend). And still only 19, the Hawthorne-bred artist remains pretty much a DIY artist, so it figures he would experiment with music beyond his bedroom psych-pop. Cuco’s new EP, “Chiquito” (out Friday) leads with a rap song, “Lucy.” It’s the tune that sent everyone into a tizzy at his recent Coachella appearances, and as rap songs go, well, it’s rap song — syrupy production, silly lyrics and all. The highlight of the EP is “Sunnyside,” and happier kids will prefer to look at that.
