Parquet Courts have episodic adventures in New Orleans in the latest two videos for songs from their forthcoming album, “Wide Awake!” The album is the indie quartet’s sixth — out May 18 via Rough Trade — and was produced by Danger Mouse.
Of working with Danger Mouse, A. Savage says: “The ethos behind every Parquet Courts record is that there needs to be change for the better, and the best way to tackle that is to step out of one’s comfort zone. I personally liked the fact that I was writing a record that [is] indebted to punk and funk, and Brian’s a pop producer who’s made some very polished records. I liked that it didn’t make sense.”
L.A. fans who missed the quartet’s intimate shows in February at the Masonic Lodge will note with dismay that Parquet Courts’ recently announced West Coast tour dates end in the Bay Area in late September, without a southern California concert. So maybe a fall festival gig is in the offing? Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, enjoy New Orleans.
