Ariel Pink and DIIV rocked intensely and weirdly as they neared the end of the Desert Daze Caravan tour, which stopped at the Wiltern on Thursday night.

DIIV opened, mentioning that they got trapped in Tijuana so they were “feeling pretty f*cked up right now, so anything you can do to cheer us up …” The crowd cheered them on. Later, they joked, “Thanks to all the people on the guest list for coming out. We had 60 people on the list, it’s pretty cool.” There were a lot of the fans of DIIV in the crowd, some of whom left after their set.

Ariel Pink then hit the stage wearing a ski mask with Mickey Mouse ears. Throughout the show he would put the ski mask on and take it off for certain songs. Pink did not talk much in between songs, but had a fun, big stage presence that made up for his reticence. Pink and his five-piece band played a collection of songs from his large catalog, but mostly songs off his most recent release, “Dedicated to Bobby Jameson.” He played songs such as “Baby,” “Time To Live,” “Time to Meet Your God,” “Lover Boy” and “Feels Like Heaven.”
