Now nearing the end of their first decade as a band, the Dig have new digs: They’ve moved from New York to Los Angeles, which is not a bad geographical fit (if there is such a thing) for the quartet’s bright synth-rock/psych-pop. The foursome — David Baldwin, Emile Mosseri, Erick Eiser and Mark Demiglio — have some ties here. Five years ago, they summered here, did a residency and made friends/influenced people. They released their third album “Bloodshot Tokyo” in early 2017 and later in the year made two EPs, the first of which, “Moonlight Baby,” was released this spring. Today they announced that “Moonlight Baby” would be combined with the second EP, “Afternoon for Caroline,” into a full album that sees its release Oct. 19.

“Moonlight Baby / Afternoon With Caroline” will be released by Roll Call Records with multiple cover options, all very colorful, while the songs themselves will be revealed one by one via their playlist, “El Dig: A Year of Music.” “If there’s one thing that ties the two EPs together, it’s that all the songs are about moving,” the band says. “‘Moonlight Baby’ is about moving because you’re forced to. A sudden shift in your reality without any advanced notice or preparation. ‘Afternoon With Caroline’ is about moving of your own free will. Chasing ambition, following your heart and breaking free of toxic situations.”

Opening with the breathless chant “gonna make a million dollars,” the first song of the second EP, “Million Dollar Man,” is like L.A.  on fast-forward. So welcome to town, and easy on the coffee.
