Video: Sam Morrow, ‘Quick Fix’

Sam Morrow was actually more into rap than country growing up. He rejected the music his parents liked. But upon moving to Palm Springs from Houston for rehab, he got into the Americana scene that stretches from the Mojave desert to Malibu’s shore. Now eight years sober, he’s a full-on country dude with a good sense of humor that permeates his third album, “Concrete and Mud,” released this past March by Forty Below Records. The Chris Phelps-directed video for swampy funk song “Quick Fix” is a hoot, or maybe it’s sexy — if (Grand Ole Echo founder and musician) Ben Reddell traipsing around in short shorts and cowboy boots washing a car sounds tantalizing. Apparently, it’s a riff on Jessica Simpson’s “These Boots Are Made For Walking” video, but Reddell doesn’t show his belly button nearly as much as she does.
