Six years and two albums into their arc, L.A. rockers Bad Suns are still searching for some kind of “mystic truth.” Or so pleads frontman Christo Bowman on the quartet’s new single “Away We Go,” released this week as their first single for Epitaph Records.

On their first two albums, 2014’s “Language & Perspective” and 2016’s “Disappear Here” (each released by Vagrant), the Valley-bred quartet (Bowman, Gavin Bennett, Miles Morris and Ray Libby) tapped into a moody, angsty sound influenced by ’80s post-punk, connecting with plenty of young suburban fans who, like them, are searching for a place in the world.

The search is ongoing. “I need some kind of connection,” Bowman sings in the propulsive new anthem, a straight-ahead classic rocker with a tickling piano line and outsized chorus.

There’s no word on a new album yet, but Bad Suns have announced European and U.S. tour dates for the new year. No hometown shows have been announced.
