Heart Bones

Sean Tillmann (aka Har Mar Superstar) and Sabrina Ellis (A Giant Dog/ Sweet Spirit) became friends while touring together in 2016. Intrigued and tickled by each other’s ebullient performance style, the two eventually began collaborating and formed Heart Bones. Taking inspiration from their favorite duos like Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood, Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, Sonny & Cher and Sam & Dave, Tillman and Ellis blend their voices and quirky sensibilities to paint the modern love story with electro soul-pop.

During cross-country visits to write music, they listened to the “Dirty Dancing” soundtrack a lot and instead of just talking about how cool it would be to sing “Hungry Eyes,” “Be My Baby” and “Love Is Strange” in front of a live audience, they decided to freaking do it. Backed by a six-piece band, Heart Bones is currently touring this dream of theirs around, which also includes playing some of their original music, such as “This Time It’s Different,” a very fun frenetically dreamy number where they swap gender roles (because why not) and sing about love, and “Little Dancer,” which is full of tender lines like “I could kick somebody’s ass for you” and “I could smoke you out for free.” Aw, that’s sweet.
