London-based singer-songwriter Will Westerman, who releases music under his last name, makes songs for your warm and fuzzies. His glowing electronic pop springs from a bed of synths straight outta the soft rock ’70s, and from there he etches webs of melody in a voice that seems to believe in magic.

He vaulted to prominence a year ago with the Pitchfork-endorsed single “Confirmation,” following up with a couple more singles that led to the October release of his EP, “Ark.” It’s a beautiful but unfussy four-song collection that Westerman wrote in a two-day span. A collaboration with London producer Bullion — aka Nathan Jenkins — the EP “is a symbol of solace and of transition,” Westerman says, and there’s a full-length in the works for later this year.

Having wowed a Moroccan Lounge crowd in his U.S. debut last November, Westerman returns to L.A. this week during a post-SXSW tour he is co-headlining with Puma Blue.
