Tonight in L.A.: Pop Levi, Anni Rossi, more

[Birthday greetings today go out to Lucinda Williams …]

Pop Levi performs tonight at the Echoplex to benefit the very fine 826LA as part of Tiny Vaudeville, a night of music, comedy, short films, novelty acts, lectures and slide shows. The night promises an appearance by “an actor so famous we can’t mention the name” too. Hmm. … January’s Monday night residencies finish in very strong fashion – around the Eastside venues: Anni Rossi [pictured], whose debut album “Rockwell” is due in early March on Beggars/4AD, is on the bill at Robert Francis’ finale at the Echo. Not only her, but San Francisco’s Magic Bullets (impressive late last year at the Part Time Punks Festival) and Peter & the Wolf are also joining Francis. … Marvelous Toy is among the support acts as Rocco Deluca ends his string of always-packed Mondays at Spaceland. … And at the Silverlake Lounge, where Olin & the Moon’s rugged Americana has reigned this month, Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes) and Evan Way (Parson Red Heads) will be doing sets. … At the Key Club’s regular joke metal night, the big-sounding Brave Citizens will put up a brave front. … And Australian teen Gabriella Cilmi – hot stuff for Island Records in the U.K. –performs at the Hotel Cafe.
