Coachella: McCartney, the Killers, the Cure, MBV

Headliners for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival include Paul McCartney, the Cure, My Bloody Valentine, the Killers, Franz Ferdinand and Morrissey. The festival just posted the full lineup for the three-day event April 17-19 in Indio. Among the other performers: X, Paul Weller, Amy Winehouse, Public Enemy, TV on the Radio, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Band of Horses, the Ting Tings, White Lies, Glasvegas, Fleet Foxes, the Knux, the Ting Tings and Beirut.
One thing I noticed immediately: McCartney headlines, and Thenewno2 – the band fronted by George Harrison’s son, Dhani – is also playing.
And I deviate from my dislike for exclamation points for this: Leonard Cohen!
Three-day passes, at $269, go on sale at 9 a.m.

I’m pretty excited about this year’s lineup. Every day offers something really good in both niche and mainstream genres.
And Ringo gets screwed again.

Really, we want to see another rock dinosaur, a band that never sounds good live headline Saturday with train wreck that in winehouse, and then the cure ( a band which was relevant in 1986) and washed up extravaganza that is MBV whilst sitting in 102 degrees.
Really.
Oh, and by the way it costs 300 dollars (and that’s without room and board).
Really cochella?
They need to a) play to the needs of the economy and b) do this show in oct.
What the hell do I know, though
(seeing cohen would be nice, but even then how will his intimate music translate in a wide open space that is Indio valley)
With Paul Weller on the bill, this is a for sure sell-out.
