Tonight in L.A.: Metric, Peter Murphy, Corridor

[It’s Kanye West’s birthday, and I wonder what you’d get a guy who has his own line of limited-edition glow-in-the-dark sneakers.]

Can’t think of another album from this year that has been a more slam-dunk mood elevator that Metric’s “Fantasies.” The Canadian-bred band, who seem to have had more homes that an Army brat (they were even an L.A. “local” band for a while), hit the Wiltern tonight, and I know I’ve posted two videos already from the album, so I will just post the link to the DIY video for “Sick Muse” as a prelude to the show. … For those who did not get enough Peaches in two nights at the Music Box @ Fonda – and judging from my Twitter feeds, there are a lot of you – the songstress takes her show to Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown. … Peter Murphy, with locals Venus Infers opening, takes on the House of Blues Anaheim. … It’s a bonus Monday at the Echo. Upstairs, Oliver Future continues its residency, with almost-otherworldly Oklahomans Other Lives opening, and downstairs at the Echoplex (also free) is a Manimal Vinyl-curated night featuring Corridor (it’s the record-release party for multi-instrumentalist and looping wizard Michael Quinn) and Avi Buffalo, among others. … Part II of the Castledoor residency at Spaceland figures to be a good night, too – Hopewell is in from New York to support, and Eastern Conference Champions are also on the bill. … Also: Lelia Broussard at the Hotel Cafe; No Horses and Old Toy Trains at the Silverlake Lounge; Amy Wallace at Molly Malone’s; and an Isgoodmusic.com night at Santa Monica’s Dakota Lounge featuring, among others, the French Semester and Moving Picture Show.
