The show calendar overfloweth: The Dead Weather’s gnarly blues-rock sounds exactly like what you’d expect, considering the players in the side project – Jack White (White Stripes), Alison Mosshart (the Kills), Jack Lawrence (the Raconteurs) and Dean Fertita. [Stream: “Treat Me Like Your Mother.”] Their debut, “Horehound,” is out July 14, and quartet makes its L.A. debut tonight at the Roxy for a sold-out show. (They’re back in SoCal on Aug. 25 (Wiltern), 27 (Glass House) and 29 (San Diego Street Scene). … There are some other big deals in town tonight too – the Airborne Toxic Event/Iglu & Hartly benefit concert for Design for Humanity at the Avalon, as well as Zap Mama at the El Rey Theatre. But nuggets abound in the smaller venues. Here goes: It’s the second night of Art Brut’s adrenaline-boosting run at Spaceland (Nico Stai is the main support this time). … Portland husband-and-wife juggernaut Viva Voce plays the Echo behind its new album “Rose City,” with catchy New Zealand quartet Cut Off Your Hands opening. … Washington, D.C. indie-rockers Deleted Scenes are making a lot of noise with their debut “Birdseed Shirt” (for what it’s worth, I’m right behind Pitchfork’s 8.0), and they hit the Silverlake Lounge tonight with support from So Many Wizards. … The Entrance Band and Dios Malos help San Francisco’s Sleepy Sun celebrate its album release with a show at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts. … Michael Berg, touted by none other than his producer, David J of Bauhaus, marks the release of “Lights Down” with a show at the Bootleg Theater (and David J opens). … And dance music fans should note: Denmark’s Spleen United plays the late set at the Viper Room, and Florida’s Awesome New Republic leads the party at Boardner’s. … Also: Illa J brings it at the Airliner; Spindrift and the Moon Upstairs at the Redwood Bar; Anna Egge (early) and Butterfly Boucher (later) at the Hotel Cafe; Robotanists and the Lynx Technique at Echo Curio; Finch at the Troubadour; and Busdriver’s 7 p.m. in-store at Amoeba.
