Dead Weather serve a hot lunch to downtown crowd

For a light lunch, it was pretty heavy. The Dead Weather kicked off the opening of Third Man Records and Novelties West Pop-Up store by playing a 25-minute set Wednesday afternoon to a capacity crowd of about 600 at downtown’s Regent Theatre. It was just a six-song taste off the band’s album “Horehound,” but even in a steamy old theater it was pure exhilaration.
The Dead Weather, with Jack White drumming and Alison Mosshart out front, flanked by Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence, have quite a little enterprise going – the store sells all things Jack White (White Stripes, Raconteurs, Dead Weather), vinyl and CDs, assorted merch, as well as posters and artwork. The novelty store on the south side of the Regent sells all manner of oddities, including vinyl records with the label printed in reverse that, yes, play the music backwards. Looc.
By the way, the stores are open until 8 tonight, and from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Then they’re gone.

Jack White has to be one of the hardest working musicians right now!! How many bands is he in???
