Coming soon to the Beck.com website will be a section called Record Club – which will feature mp3s of songs from studio sessions during which Beck and his pals will re-record an entire album in a single day, sans rehearsal. Should be interesting, especially since the collaborators have chosen “The Velvet Underground & Nico” to kick off the venture. There’s no definite timetable, but among the people sitting in early on: Devendra Banhart, MGMT, Jamie Lidell and Nigel Godrich.

‣ Insightful narrative from the OC Register’s Ben Wener, who not only reviews the Dead Weather’s earth-moving performance Wednesday night at the Roxy but reviews the media contingent too.

‣ NME garners studio hang time with Courtney Love, in case you were on the Hole Comeback Watch.

KCRW-FM announced the launch of not one but three of those all-the-rage iPhone applications – one for the radio feed, one for the “Morning Becomes Eclectic” video feed and one devoted to the “Good Food” show. All of which sounds great, but did you know that the new Paul Van Dyk app turns your device into a glowstick at the press of a button?

‣ As previously tweeted, the Henry Clay People will be going back out on tour with the Airborne Toxic Event (the L.A. bands teamed up earlier this year in a tour that was interrupted a couple times by TATE frontman Mike Jollett’s throat ailment). Tour kicks off Sept. 17 at the Fox Theater Pomona (password for Friday’s 10 a.m. ticket presale is “WHITENOISE.” The Henry Clay People, by the way, should have a new EP out by the end of the summer.

‣ I can’t believe I just typed “as previously tweeted.”

‣ How is your band going to do? One of these ways.

Stereogum posted a song off the forthcoming solo album by Brendan Benson.

‣ And, finally (via Metal Insider), power metal meets Katy Perry, and I like this version better:
