[Have a safe holiday weekend. And raise a glass for birthday boy Robbie Robertson on Sunday.]
Saturday: .Continuing the outdoors theme – it’s time for the annual Hootenanny at Oak Canyon Ranch in Orange County. Los Lobos and the Reverend Horton Heat top the bill. … And, of course, more Fogerty and fireworks at the Bowl. … In clubland, there’s a great bill at Spaceland, with L.A.’s Dawes joined by Deer Tick and the Moondoggies. … And off the beaten path, there’s the New Weird America Festival at the Nomad Art Compound (1993 Blake Ave.). It kicks off at 2 p.m. and features the likes of Night Horse, Imaad Wasif and Spindrift.
Sunday: A great night to be at the Bowl – Death Cab For Cutie (with the David Campbell-conducted L.A. Phil), Tegan and Sara and the New Pornographers will play to a big crowd. … L.A. punk quartet Time Again celebrates the release of its new album, “Naked,” with a show at the Knitting Factory. … Nice bill at the AC Indie night at the Air Conditioned in Venice, including Go West Young Man and Klum. … Also: Emilie Simon at the Bootleg Theater; Tall Hands at the Echo; and Avi Buffalo and Aushua at the Silver Factory Studios (915 Mateo St.).
Death Cab?!! How did I miss that one?! Add Snow Patrol to that and my ears can die happy!!! 🙂
