You Me & Iowa’s swan song really sings

It’ll be a bittersweet night Saturday at Spaceland. Local pop quintet You Me & Iowa is splitting up after six years – and releasing their new (and final) album, “Aquarium.” “We feel we’ve reached a point where we need to explore new musical territory that cannot be achieved as the ensemble, You Me & Iowa,” says a note from members Tony Benedetti, Andrew Carroll, Tizoc Estrada, Ryan Julio and Ryan Ross on the band’s website. They promise their swan song will be “a night to remember.” The new album will be distributed free at the Spaceland show.

It’s funny how some bands simply catch fire and others merely continue to ply their wares in relative obscurity. Any fan of L.A. buzz bands Local Natives or Princeton should fall head over heels for “Aquarium’s” harmony-laden title track. Here it is:
