No Age singer-drummer Dean Spunt dropped plenty of F-bombs on Wednesday night at the Palladium – the most of vicious of which was directed at a faulty mic – but the first really captured the spirit of the evening. “F**king Pixies,” Spunt sighed, with more than a little bit of reverence.

The L.A. noise-rock duo was a nifty choice as opener for the Pixies’ “Doolittle” tour – Spunt and guitarist Randy Randall have four more dates with Black Francis and crew. No Age filled the cavernous Palladium with shards of sound, coaxing as much artful bombast as you can get from a two-piece. Their set drew heavily from last year’s Sub Pop album “Nouns” – “Sleeper Hold,” “Teen Creeps,” “Here Should Be My Home,” “Eraser,” “Miner” and “Cappo” kept the energy high, and “You’re a Target,” from the new “Losing Feeling” EP especially stood out.
