[Tim Booth of James turns 50 today? It’s not so bad north of the half-century mark, lad … salute. Meanwhile, in L.A. environs, it’s a busy night:]

imaadwasifcropImaad Wasif, whose album “The Voidist” made our 2009 a whole lot better, kicks off a three-week residency at Spaceland – each of those Thursdays have a theme. Tonight it’s “An Evening of Dead Wasif,” featuring his band, supported by members of Red Sparowes performing as Mockingbirds and Jason Simon of Dead Meadow. … It’s the first Thursday of the month, so it’s time for the Rumble: Hosted by Futuresounds and Buzz Bands LA (among others), the lineup at 3 Clubs features Portland’s Jaguar Love headlining, with the Rhone Occupation and Ultra Violent Lights. … At the Troubadour, it’s Gillian Welch cohort Dave Rawlings (who’s doing a 6 o’clock set at Amoeba too). … And there’s a great Haiti benefit at the House of Blues, featuring, Brett Dennen, Ryan Bingham, Nikka Costa, Colbie Caillat, Meiko and others. … Also: Thelonious Monster at the Echo, Laura Marling at Largo; Deep Sea Diver and Ex-Detectives at the Silverlake Lounge; Dilana at the Roxy; Hot Streets’ album-release show at the Viper Room; the Ringers at the Mint; and 60 Watt Kid at the Prospector in Long Beach.
