Glacier Hiking to give in memory of Justin Mentell

Justin Mentell, the 27-year-old actor who died earlier this month in an SUV accident in rural Wisconsin, will be remembered on Tuesday by the L.A. band he had supported so often. Glacier Hiking will donate part of the proceeds from its headlining show at the Echo to a memorial fund set up in the actor’s honor.

“He was a great friend and a big fan of the band,” Glacier Hiking frontman Ross Golan says. “You know how there’s a core group of people who come to your shows? He’d been there from the beginning, and he was the kind of guy who’d bring 10 friends to the show. We’ll miss him.”

Mentell, like Golan, hailed from the Chicago area but the two never met until they were in Los Angeles. Among other projects, Mentell had a two-season role as attorney Garrett Wells on “Boston Legal.” Donations will be made to the Waukegan Park District Cultural Arts, 39 Jack Benny Dr., Waukegan, IL 60087.
