News bits: Viper Room webcasts, Glacier Hiking, Local Natives
‣ This Just in Dept.: The Viper Room is getting into the webcasting business – a weekly series called “Loud on the Sunset Strip,” which soft-launched last week, is carrying live performances tonight by New Kingdom (pictured), Abused Romance and Submission Red (which kicks things off at 8 p.m.). Like the webcasts from the Natural History Museum’s First Fridays events, they will be carried through Stickam.com, specifically this link. (After the jump, we’ve embedded the player for tonight’s show.)
‣Glacier Hiking, the Ross Golan/Tommy Walter collaboration whom we liked for quite some time, is no more. Walter decided to focus on his resuscitated Abandoned Pools project, which releases a new single this month.
‣ Local Natives and bassist Andy Hamm have parted ways, due to “unresolved differences within the band,” according to a March 18 post on the L.A. quintet’s blog.
