[My first e-mail this morning came from a friend back home: “Twenty-five years ago today, Toto won a Grammy. Those were the days.” Happy Tuesday, there’s a big night ahead:]
If you’re a regular here, you probably already know about this: Glacier Hiking headlines our Buzz Bands LA event at the Echo, which also features Kitten, Haim and Go West Young Man. As much as I’d love to see you there, you have plenty of other great show-going options tonight: Ferraby Lionheart, his album just finished, wraps up his Tuesday residency at the Bootleg Theater, where he’s been joined by a brass band. Tonight’s final installment also features Leslie & the Badgers and Charlie Wadhams. … Dinosaur Jr. plays a free show (RSVP here) at the Troubadour (if you’re on the list, it’s first-come first-served). … Speaking of free, Philadelphia-based Free Energy was great on Monday at the Echo, and tonight the quintet takes its act to Spaceland. … Butch Walker celebrates the release of his new album “I Liked You Better When You Had No Heart” at the Hotel Cafe. … Paris-based electro-pop sensation Dan Black hits town – tongiht’s Dim Mak party at Cinespace is the first of his two L.A. shows. … Also: The first of two Mariah Carey shows at the Gibson Amphitheatre; Schwarzenator’s album-release party at the Viper Room; Roll the Tanks at the Silverlake Lounge; and the Icarus Line at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach.
