moonrats-myspMoonrats kicks off their residency at Spaceland. The L.A. indie-rockers have a song coming out as part of IAMSOUND’s “L.A. Collection” series (KCRW previewed it last week), are working on their full-length debut and also play a role in director Spike Jonez’ new short “I’m Here” – the song in the film’s trailer is by the band’s Aska Matsuyima. Soko is among the supporting acts tonight. … Great bill at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach – Pedro the Lion’s David Bazan headlines, with Illinois indie-poppers Headlights and SoCal’s own Kissing Cousins supporting. … Alesana heads up a hard-edged lineup at the El Rey Theatre. … It’s Week 2 of residencies for the Delta Mirror (at the Echo, with Alexandra Hope supporting) and Seaspin (at the Silverlake Lounge, with Repeater supporting). … Cobalt Cranes and Thee Vicars play downtown’s Redwood Bar. … And Year Long Disaster rocks the Troubadour. … Also: Stockholm Syndrome at the Roxy; RJ Chesney’s album-release show at the Hotel Cafe; and David Scott Stone at Echo Curio.
