Another big crowd turned out Thursday night at the Hammer Museum for this month’s second installment of Also I Like to Rock – this one the tour kickoff for Admiral Radley, the new quartet featuring Jason Lytle and Aaron Burtch from Grandaddy and Aaron Espinoza and Ariana Murray of Earlimart. Ad Rad’s set of lush, effects-laden pop included material from their debut “I Heart California.” Lytle also turned in a touching rendition of “Everytime I’m With You,” one of his contributions to the album “Dark Night of the Soul,” the collaboration between Danger Mouse and the late Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse. L.A. three-piece the Happy Hollows started off the night a set of their kinetic rock, most of it off their debut “Spells,” and plenty of fans turned out early to hit the Hammer’s galleries (open till 9) before the music. The series, curated by Buzz Bands LA, continued next Thursday at 7 with Fitz & the Tantrums, followed by the Heavy.
