‣ Ex-Broken West frontman Ross Flournoy, now doing business as Apex Manor, has a pretty magical album in “The Year of Magical Drinking.” The L.A. quartet’s West Coast tour stops at its home base tonight, the Satellite, supported by Jerry Borgé – the nom de tune of songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jason Borger, whose name you will find in the credits of records by the likes of American Music Club, Earlimart, Eleni Mandell, Everest and the Watson Twins (to name a few). Borger’s band includes Apex Manor guys Derek Brown (Eels) and Brian Whelan (Wheelhouse), as well as ex-Ryan Adams bassist Jonny Flaugher.
‣ The Decemberists (pictured) play to a sold-out Wiltern Theatre.
‣ Saint Motel throws down with its annual Zombie Prom at downtown’s Alexandria Hotel.
‣ At the Conga Room, Los Amigos Invisibles are joined by 25-year-old New Orleans whiz kid Trombone Shorty.
‣ There Sara Lov’s free 8 p.m. show at the Bootleg Theater to celebrate the release of her covers album “I Already Love You.”
‣ And the Hotel Cafe lineup is stellar all evening – Leslie Stevens & the Badgers, followed by Maxim Ludwig & the Santa Fe Seven, followed by Andy Clockwise.
