A night of Coachella warm-ups (and some good local shows) before it warms up for Coachella:

‣ Desert-bound Duran Duran plays the sold-out Fox Theater in Pomona. [See the Times’ piece on their enduring appeal.]
‣ Desert-bound Broken Social Scene holds forth at the Glass House in Pomona.
‣ Desert-bound Big Audio Dynamite resurfaces for a show at the Roxy.
‣ Desert-bound  !!! rocks the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa.
‣ British rockers Yuck, along with Porcelain Raft and local newbies Milo Greene, play the Satellite.
‣ Long Beach quartet the Wind [whose double-album “Harum-Scarum” we told you about in January] headline the Bootleg, with the New Limb supporting.
‣ And at the Silverlake Lounge, the Quick Hellos [see January’s introduction to them] celebrate their EP release by playing on a bill with Thurlow and the Parlour Suite.
