Who: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart in the Mojave Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: Recommending their recommendations.
I’ll Remember This Until: The next time somebody tells me nice guys finish last. Kip Berman and gang are the kids you’d happily invite over for dinner, so mannered and polite are these New Yorkers. Their fizzy pop is full of lovestruck wonder; if you wanted to fix somebody’s lovelife, it’d be Berman’s. They endeared themselves to a tent that was only two-thirds full, and the songs off their new album “Belong”suggest that the twee-poppers are trying to be a bigger rock band, or at least one that rocks bigger. Either way, they’d still help carry your groceries. Berman’s thank-you spiel as their crisp set ended included a bunch of band endorsements, including YACHT and Titus Andronicus (who were playing nearby), an even in invitation to join him Saturday “so we can see the London Suede together.” Sweet.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Were at Tame Impala: You probably did all right too.
