FYF Fest taking it to the downtown L.A. streets; Guided by Voices, DFA 1979, Broken Social Scene, Explosions in the Sky, the Descendents highlight bill

Guided by Voices, Death From Above 1979, Broken Social Scene, Explosions in the Sky and the Descendents highlight the lineup for the Sept. 3 FYF Fest, which moves from Los Angeles State Historic Park to the streets of downtown L.A. surrounding City Hall – the footprint of the dearly departed Detour Festival.

In the announcement on the Los Angeles Times Pop & Hiss blog, FYF promoter Sean Carlson acknowledged that he has partnered with Goldenvoice to mount this year’s festival – which will seem like a cool glass of water to fans who sweltered through long lines for everything at the nightmarish FYF Fests the past two years.

L.A. acts are strongly represented in this year’s lineup, with Cold War Kids, Avi Buffalo, Fool’s Gold, returnees OFF! (that’s Keith Morris, above, pictured at last year’s FYF), No Age and Nosaj Thing on the bill. After the jump, the lineup:
