‣ Last month we updated you on the exploits of the Parson Red Heads, the Oregon-bred folkies who were beloved locally for the five years they spent in L.A. and last year relocated to Portland. Their new album “Yearling” – their best work yet – is coming Aug. 16 on Arena Rock Recording Co., and tonight they visit the Echo, joined by Alela Diane [see yesterday’s post] and Yukon Blonde,
‣ Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche, his sixth album just out, headlines the El Rey Theatre.
‣ The Godfather of Goth, Peter Murphy, swings back through L.A. behind his latest solo album, “Ninth.” The Bauhaus legend plays the Troubadour.
‣ Jonathan Bates’ new project Big Black Delta has made a lot of noise with the single “Huggin & a Kissin.” The band’s “LP1” is en route in September on Coming Home Records, and Bates and crew bring their intergalactic live show to the Satellite tonight.
‣ And Sarabeth Tucek [pictured], the singer who first emerged as a contributor to albums by Smog and the Brian Jonestown Massacre, plays the Bootleg Bar in support of her second album, “Get Well Soon.” Twilight Sleep and Magic Mirror open.
