‣Best Bang For Your Buck Award goes to: Taylor Locke & the Roughs along with Sabrosa Purr and Miracle Parade at Bootleg Bar. It also gets my vote for the sexiest rock show of the night and, yes, I’m talking about the music and the musicians.
‣Aussie-to-L.A. seems to be a running theme this week. Oh look, it’s Aussies-to L.A. Neon Hymns continuing their Friday night residency at Hotel Café. Theirs is a familiar sound (listen to the track “Whatever Happened”) , but the passion and heart behind it (as well as Josef Cruickshank’s vocals) make this take on alt rock promising.
‣Multi-instrumentalists Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn are Pomplamoose and they’re at the Troubadour for a sold out show. These two crazy kids”¦kinda jazzy, kinda indie, kinda cool, especially their flip album “Tribute To Famous People” a.k.a. covers of the most irreverent kind (“Single Ladies”, anyone?). L.A. duo Louis & Genevieve support.
‣And Mason Jennings and Pines are at the El Rey Theatre.
