“Cars,” the latest single from Fresno-bred the Fay Wrays, may initially deceive listeners into believing the garage-rock trio has calmed down a bit, since the quiet verses are cushioned by light layer of fuzzed out guitars. But as soon as the chorus hits, Ben McEntee and Eli Reyes are back to making ears sting and adrenaline rush, thanks to bombastic drumming and thrashing guitar chords that go from zero to 100 in seconds. A simple statement addressing a mode of transportation quickly transforms into a head-banger, again showcasing their knack for making rage feel great.
