Your Wednesday whirlwind:
‣ Baltimore’s husband-wife fronted band Tennis does their second SoCal show of the week. This time they, along with Wild Belle, hit at the Troubadour for a sold-out night. [That’s their video for “My Better Self” above.]
‣ Cage the Elephant headlines the Mayan Theater. An early arrival for the “debut” of opening band the Nannerama is strongly suggested.
‣ L.A. songstress Carina Round celebrates the release of “Tigermending,” her first album in five years, at the Satellite. [See “Girl and the Ghost”.] The Child and High Duchess join in on the festivities.
‣ Coldplay plays another night at the Hollywood Bowl with the Pierces and Metronomy.
‣ Wisconsin’s psychedelic electro-pop duo Peaking Lights visit the Echo, which has a full lineup also including Secret Circuit, Deadly Dragon Sound System, Carl Meeks and Screechy Dan.
‣ TV Girl, the sample-heavy chillwave duo of Trung Ngo and Brad Petering, top the bill at Los Globos, but one should really jump at the chance of catching Wildcat! Wildcat! live for R&B-infused, falsetto-laden pop concoctions. The young but lovely Pageants also play.
‣ Sophie Barker of the Zero 7 fame headlines the Bootleg in support of her new album, “Seagull.” The Janks and White Dove (formerly Monster) support.
‣ Tic Tic Boom! kicks off their residency over at Lot 1 Cafe where Mad Planet and the Open Feel will also play.
