Tonight in L.A.: Dntel, Phantom Planet, Sea of Bees

‣ Two generations of L.A. beatmakers team up at Low End Theory at the Airliner: Dntel, the guise of Jimmy Tamborello (the Postal Service, Figurine) and one of the forerunners of the beat scene, performs behind the release of his new album “Aimlessness” (just out on Pampa Records). He’s joined by Baths, the nom de tune of Will Wiesenfeld, who (along with Nite Jewel) guests on Dntel’s album and whose own album “Cerulean” was released in 2010 to wide acclaim. That’s the video for the Dntel track “Still,” above.
Phantom Planet returns after a three-year hiatus, headlining the Troubadour with support from Haim.
‣ And Sacramento’s Sea of Bees [the latest here] visits the Echo behind their new album “Orangefarben.” Sister Crayon opens.
