Stream: HOTT MT, ‘Never Hate Again (feat. Wayne Coyne)’

L.A. psych-pop explorers HOTT MT etched their names in music lore in January, when they drove to Oklahoma City and arrived on the doorstep of Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne to deliver him a birthday present. Instead of chasing them off, Coyne invited HOTT MT into his home and studio, and they ended up staying a while and collaborating on music. Out of this meeting of the minds came “Never Hate Again,” a very fun track that HOTT MT will release as a 7-inch on Origami Vinyl in late July. And it turns out that “Never Hate Again” won’t be the last adventure HOTT MT (Hour of the Time, Majesty 12) has with Coyne. The band – Nick Logie, Ashleigh Allard and Adam Ashe, now joined live by Joshua Stephens and Nicholas Ventura – will be the opening act for the Flaming Lips’ 24-hour show (that also features Gary Clark Jr.) on June 27 in Clarksdale, Miss.
