[Three new tunes from locals we’ve recently written about…]

Everest, “Raking Me Over the Coals”– Upon the preparation for their forthcoming album “Ownerless,” Everest has just announced fall tour dates with Neil Young and given out their latest single “Raking Me Over the Coals” as a free download. Inspired by a cold, overcast day in L.A., the new tune is a collaborative effort from singer Russell Pollard and Gary Louris (of the Jayhawks) – and it foreshadows the new sonic territory the L.A. band explores on its third album, out next week via ATO Records. Also, grab “Rapture.” Everest plays the Troubadour on July 24.

Saint Motel, “Benny Goodman” – Unveiling yet another track from their forthcoming debut “Voyeur” (due July 10), Saint Motel gives us the slinky, horn-touting, keyboard-teasing and soul-infused “Benny Goodman.” Also, grab “1997.” Their album-release show July 14 at the El Rey Theatre should be quite a party.

Warm Weather, “Stay” – High-energy harmonizers Warm Weather return with another busy pop number, “Stay.” Despite the title, the track, from their January EP “Looking Through,” doesn’t represent anything stationary sonic-wise, and the whirlwind of contrasting elements aren’t so easily identifiable. The trio is working on new music. Also, grab “So Far/Vertigo” and “A Promise.”
