[Editor’s note: Re-posting this amazing video from a few weeks ago because we had inadvertently published an unfinished version:]

Avant-folk ensemble Little Red Lung’s single “50 Fingers” is a dark, dramatic little number, with singer Zoe-Ruth Erwin’s vocals prancing through a labyrinth of horns, keyboard, guitar and percussion. The video for the song creates a netherworld of imagery and involved the band members getting plastered – literally. It’s the work of artist Sarah Sitkin, known for her striking photography. “The director made prosthetic moldings of our faces, bodies, hands, feet, etc., and then used them as dead-doll versions of us to capitalize on the playful morbidness of the song,” Erwin says. “It took hundreds of casts and moldings.” From the detail in the scenery to the costumes to the animation, the video borrows from some of the great surrealists, and is at once mesmerizing and disturbing.
