Download: Lord Huron, ‘Time to Run’

The faintly tropical flavors in the early work of Lord Huron recede to the background in the debut album from the L.A. indie-rock band that began as the solo venture of Michigan native Ben Schneider. Still steeped in reverb and boasting sophisticated rhythmic underpinnings, “Lonesome Dreams” (due Oct. 9 on IAMSOUND Records) is every bit the dusty-road Americana its title would suggest. Schneider, with mates Mark Barry (percussion, vocals), Miguel Briseno (bass, percussion), Brett Farkas (guitar, vocals) and Tom Renaud (guitar, vocals), conjures up desert landscapes and the long hours of introspection they inspire in his cinematic, meticulously orchestrated folk. “Time to Run” not only speaks to an urge, but it paints a pretty picture of where you might be headed.
