Indie upstarts, meet L.A. legends.
The annual Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival – the best music experience you can have while wiping butter off your chin – will continue its recent tradition of showcasing SoCal’s rising indie talent alongside excellent veteran acts. This year’s event will feature Dum Dum Girls, Saint Motel, NO, Races, JJAMZ and Jail Weddings – along with a Sunday finale from roots music marvels the Blasters.
The full lineup for the 2 1/2-day festival at Ports O’Call Village in San Pedro, along with ticket on-sale info, is expected soon. The lineup this year is again curated by Mark Sovel, the former music director at Indie 103.1 who now hosts the Saturday night radio show “City of Night” on KCSN (88.5 FM). He has background on the bands on his website.
The Blasters, who this month released a new album “Fun on Saturday Night,” will be making their return to the stage after canceling summer dates in the U.K. because singer Phil Alvin fell ill and underwent an emergency tracheotomy.

I can’t wait to go to this! I’ve gone the past couple years and have seen X, Awolnation, and Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros! I always see the hot up and coming bands at this and the price is great…i get a lobster, loaded on beer, and see the best music for like $35 all in…no parking cost either! And I just saw Jjamz at the sunset strip music fest and they rule! Dangerbird’s new artist! Curious if they will be as big as Silversun Pickups!
