Video: The Dø, ‘Gonna Be Sick!’

Known for blurring the lines between folk, pop and hip-hop, French/Finnish duo The Dø offers an intriguing black-and-white clip for their tune “Gonna Be Sick!” The track off their sophomore album “Both Ways Open Jaws” may have a chorus with Olivia Merilahti repeatedly singing about her fear of vomiting, but Dan Levy’s groovy concoction of deep bass lines, xylophone trills and crisp percussion make you want to soak in the music instead of toss your cookies. It’s a mighty feat when it comes to subject matter and melody, but fans of their debut album “A Mouthful” shouldn’t be too surprised at this quirky triumph. Both the original  “Both Ways Open Jaws” and its extended live version (which includes a cover of Janelle Monae’s “Tightrope”) are out now on Six Degrees Records.
