Thursday’s things, and there are plenty:
‣ Spoek Mathambo – the nom de tune of South Africa’s Nthato Mokgata – bring the spiky electro on its nee album “Father Creeper” to the Echoplex. Gothic Tropic and Pegasus Warning open. That’s Spoek Mthanbo’s video for “Let Them Talk,” above.
‣ Electro whiz Nosaj Thing does a free show at Levitt Pavilion MacArthur Park.
‣ Boasting a six-piece horn section and string players Noah & the MegaFauna will be 15 strong for their show tonight at the Bootleg Bar. Timur & the Dime Museum and Marcus Very Ordinary support.
‣ Daniel Bedingfield heads up the party and the Mint, where Raheem Cohen and Jutty Ranx also play.
‣ Long-running Bay Area songstress Paula Frazer visits the Echo with a stellar supporting cast including Aaron Embry, Fort King and Messes.
‣ And there’s a nice no-cover-charge night at Harvard & Stone, with Imperial Mammoth, Jules Larson and Last American Buffalo.
