The Ruby Friedman Orchestra launched the new monthly live music series presented by KCSN and Buzz Bands LA in audacious fashion on Tuesday night, and it wasn’t just her shoes. With her full-throttle vocals soaring, Friedman and her band delivered an hour of exhilarating diva-rock to a big crowd at the Federal Bar in North Hollywood. It was the exclamation point on an evening that began with a set of exuberant indie-pop from the New Limb and picked up even more steam when the Lonely Wild followed with a batch of Western-flavored indie-rock.
The monthly series at the Fed continues on Aug. 28. Watch for a lineup announcement soon.
