@KRBronson recommends: Echo Park Rising on Saturday. The free, multiple-venue neighborhood festival is a sampler platter of the local scene. Fool’s Gold (on the outdoor stage at Taix) and Voxhaul Broadcast (at the Echo) highlight a long day of great music. The Buzz Bands LA Stage in Taix, which kicks off at 2 p.m., will feature a 11 o’clock nightcap set from Youngblood Hawke, preceded by (in reverse order of set time) Soft Swells, Warships, A House for Lions, Future Ghost, the Record Company, the Lonely Wild, Pageants, Michael Davis With Lions and the Far West.
@Seraphina_L recommends: Poliça and Supreme Cuts at the Echoplex on Tuesday. Despite the massive auto-tune on the record, Channy Leaneagh and company are still bound to play the slinkiest of live sets with songs from the recently re-released “Give You the Ghost” on Mom + Pop. [See their video for “Dark Star.”] Two drummers and a one graceful woman will have no problem wooing the crowd with their R&B-inflected electronica. Chicago-based Supreme Cuts will provide a very complementary set with songs off of their album “Whispers in the Dark” (out now on Dovecote).
