‣ Some sonic explorers from the L.A. beat scene convene at the Echoplex, where a Friends of Friends showcase brings in Shlohmo (aka producer Henry Laufer) to head up a hometown show that features Salva, LOL Boys and Groundislava (new album “Feel Me” out next week). That’s the video for the Shlohmo remix of LOL Boys’ “Changes,” above.
‣ And upstairs at the Echo, avant-garde composer Julia Holter, fresh off support gigs for Sigur Ros, xxxx Raw Geronimo and Tes Elations support. at the Echo
‣ Cults and Lord Huron perform at the last of the Play MOCA series at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. [See our recap of the July installment.]
‣ Grammy-winning Diana Krall does the first of two nights at the Hollywood Bowl.
‣ Quite a night ahead at the Mint, where the bill features the legendary Alejandro Escovedo playing behind his new labum “Big Station” and with Jesse Malin at the Mint
‣ AM & Shawn Lee, who last year collaborated on an album titled “Celestial Electric,” play the Satellite as each artist has a new project. Lee has a new album just out titled “Synthesizers in Space” [stream the whole thing], and AM recently unveiled his own fresh album called “New Normal.”
