[A few new cool tunes from upcoming albums…]

El Perro del Mar, “Walk On By” – No, it’s not a Burt Bacharach/Dionne Warwick cover, but it’s just as smooth with a sensual filter. Swedish pop-songwriter Sarah Assbring, aka El Perro del Mar, will finally release a follow-up to 2009’s “Love Is Not Pop,” and “Walk On By” off of the forthcoming “Pale Fire” (due out Nov. 13 via the Control Group) sure makes all recent teases worth it.
PVT, “Shiver” – Australian trio PVT (formerly Pivot) follows up their highly-regarded 2010 album “Church With No Magic” with another beautifully haunting electronic tune titled “Shiver.” Their fourth record is not yet titled but is slated for a release on Felte. They’ll also kick off a North American tour with Menomena this month – including a Sept. 27 date at the El Rey Theatre.
Menomena, “Pique” – Speaking of Menomena, this Portland indie rock band is preparing for the release their fifth studio album. It will be their first record as a duo. “Moms” is due out Sept. 18 on Barsuk, and for a band who lost a core member in 2011, their third single “Pique” roars with the strongest feel-good melodies (despite the subject matter) we’ve heard from the band yet.
