Shelby Lynne is one of a kind. Her timeless songcraft and time-stopping voice have made her one of the most compelling artists of her generation, and maybe the generation that followed too. A Grammy winner for Best New Artist (ironically, six albums and 13 years into her career), Lynne has always been a force as a live performer. And the new boxed set, due next week, captures some of what was a memorable moment for her southern California fans – her show at the legendary McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica on May 19. The 18-track “Live at McCabe’s” (which will be available separately as a digital download) is part of Lynne’s “Revelation Road Deluxe Edition,” which includes her 2011 full-length, the live disc, a “Live in London” DVD recorded in February and five bonus acoustic tracks. The song “I’ll Hold Your Head” is off “Revelation Road,” which Lynne released on her own Everso Records last October. “”˜I’ll Hold Your Head’ is a musical picture from my days as a girl riding in the car singing with Mama and Sissy,” says of the song. “It’s also a poem about my love for my sister Allison.”
