This Thursday schedule is so good it oughta be a Saturday:
‣ If you have never seen El Ten Eleven, tonight would be a very good opportunity. No, really. There’s no duo like Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogarty, and there’s no instrumental rock band like them. They bring their mesmerizing live show to the Echo tonight behind their new album “Transitions.” The incredible video for “Yellow Bridges,” above, is the work of U.K. animator Cyriak.
‣ The final installment of Gary Clark Jr.’s three-night stay at the Troubadour features ZZ Ward as the opener – now that’s value-added.
‣ Petty Fest Fest, the star-studded benefit for the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund that salutes the music of Tom Petty, does a second night at the El Rey Theatre.
‣ Alaska-born, L.A.-based singer-songwriter Kate Earl celebrates next week’s release of her new album “Stronger” with a show at the Hotel Cafe on a night that also sees sets from Chelsea Williams (her EP release show) and White Dove.
‣ Stellar local show at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach, where the Henry Clay People and the World Record are joined by Atlanta’s Gentleman Jesse & His Men and Summer Twins.
‣ And Blue October headlines the House of Blues behind their new album, “Any Man in America” (their seventh), and opening is Seattle trio Barcelona, who in May released their new album “Not Quite Yours.”
