Smoky-voiced multi-instrumentalist Trixie Whitley may only now be releasing her debut record “Fourth Corner,” but by no means is she a newcomer to the music scene. Whitley’s cathartic vocals have been heard on her two solo EPs, several records by her father, singer-songwriter Chris Whitley, and most recently on the debut record by Black Dub, the collaborative project with producer Daniel Lanois. Her powerhouse vocals are unyielding but the delicate cracks in her hushed tones are equally compelling in songs like the stunning “Breathe You In My Dreams,” making it easy to hear why Whitley is quickly becoming the new siren of soul. The Thomas Bartlett-produced “Fourth Corner” is slated for a Jan. 29 release via Strong Blood Records.
