Above:  Keane is pretty popular, we hear. The keyboard-toting U.K. quartet released heir fourth-full length, “Strangeland,” last May and it became the band’s fifth No. 1 record (counting an EP) in England. Their video for “Sovereign Light Café,” above, was filmed on their home turf, Bexhill-On-Sea in Sussex. Youngblood Hawke opens Saturday’s show at the Pantages Theatre, which will make for an interesting coupling.

@KRBronson recommends: Songsmith Andrew McMahon shuttered Jack’s Mannequin in November after a fine three-album run, but now he’s carrying on under his own name. The ex-Something Corporate frontman has been working on material for a new EP, and this week he’s likely showcase some of it when he does back-to-back nights (Wednesday and Thursday) at the Viper Room.

@Seraphina_L recommends: PAPA at Bootleg Bar. The quartet led by Evan Weiss and Daniel Presant kicks off its residency at the Bootleg tonight, and it should be a good time if they continue to unveil more new songs like this one. Also, indie-dance trio Beat Club and Wardell support.

Of special note: Tuesday is the 77th anniversary of Elvis Presley’s birthday, and there’s hardly a better way to salute “The King” than hit the 27th Annual Elvis Birthday Bash at the Echo. Fun and educational (and featuring no impersonators), the event is hosted by Art Fein and Ronnie Mack and boasts a wide array of performers.
