Ears Wide Open: Bom Bom

bombom

The first song from the L.A. duo going by the name Bom Bom is a button-pusher that will play perfectly to fans of old-school soul and new-school pop. Melody and a tinkling piano straight outta Motown? Check. Wonky Bourbon Street horn? Check. A little electro wizardry to remind us it’s 2013? Sure. The production is by David Greenbaum, and the vocals come courtesy of Sophie Stern, a songwriter who works out of Dr. Luke’s stable. She has a Britney Spears credit, some pretty cool solo material still hanging around on the Internet and even appeared with Kendrick Lamar on a Cisco & Schwayze song back in 2011. This song is lightning in a bottle … and I can’t for the life of me figure out why it reminds me of White Town.
