The Week Ahead: Jan. 28-Feb. 3

0

Incoming: Local Natives, Niki & the Dove, the Who, Lisa Loeb, Ron Sexsmith, Two Gallants, Dead Sara, Jon Foreman, Sound City Players, Meiko, Tristan Prettyman, Tegan and Sara, the Gaslamp Killer, the Happy Hollows, Vieux Farka Touré, the Bronx, Radar Brothers, Branford Marsalis, Augustana, Benjamin Francis Leftwich

Above: Tegan and Sera return this week with the seventh full-length album, “Heartthrob.” That’s the video for the first single, “Closer” (co-written by Greg Kurstin), above, and the Quin sisters headline Club Nokia on Friday night, supported by Night Terrors of 1927.

Our staff picks of the week:

@KRBronson recommends: The Bronx’s album-release show at Los Globos on Saturday night ought to be sweaty, glorious mess. It’s the L.A. rockers’ fourth album and their best yet.

@Seraphina_L recommends: Local Natives and Superhumanoids on Monday (Fonda Theatre) and Tuesday (El Rey Theatre). It will be the first chance for many fans to hear material off of Local Natives’ forthcoming album “Hummingbird” (out Tuesday). Electro dream-pop quartet Superhumanoids will be opening both nights in support of their debut full-length “Exhibitionists.”
