Who: Two Door Cinema Club at the Outdoor Theatre
In 3 or Fewer Words: Club was bangin’.
Memorable Because: Opposite the snooze fest over at the main stage was one of the biggest parties I’ve seen at the Outdoor Theatre. No matter the reasoning behind their name, Irish dance-rockers Two Door Cinema Club made sure they lived up to to the “club” part – without the douchebags and their bottle service. “We’re excited to be here and we’re going to have a lot of fun, aren’t we?” lead vocalist Alex Trimble cheerily asked, then realized, “We’re already having fun!” Despite energetic sets from Janelle Monae and Franz Ferdinand also happening across the field, Two Door Cinema Club held their ground. But if they were actually playing a venue with walls and floors, the massive jumping during “Something Good Can Work” might have torn the place down.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Were at the xx: I love Solange, but even she couldn’t have kept me awake at The xx.
